Meet the Pastor

Hello and thank you for taking the time to explore our website. My name is Jason Brooks, and I am privileged to serve as Pastor of Refuge of Hope. i was born in central Florida and live until I was 10 years old. From there my family moved to southern Alabama. As a young teen I would travel to states where other family members lived for the summer. At the age of 15 I came to Grand Rapids, MN to spend the summer with my aunt and uncle. Over the course of that summer Jesus began to reach for me in a way I had never experienced before. With the guidance of my aunt and uncle as well as my pastor, Ron Lichtle, I made the decision to be baptized in Jesus name and shortly after received the gift of the Holy Ghost. My life was forever changed. These events led me to decide to make my visit a little longer... I have now been in MN for several decades!

I was also blessed to meet an amazing girl that summer. Only 3 years later, Cherice would agree to become my wife. We now have 4 children, and my family is my greatest blessing and joy. 

Early in our marriage Cherice and I began to hear the Lord call us to ministry. We served as youth pastor of our home church in Grand Rapids for 10 years before serving the same congregation as assistant pastor for 2 more years. At that point the Lord called us to the city to start a new church in the city of Fergus Falls, MN. After 8 years serving there He again, in His wisdom, impressed on us that it was time to relocate. It was this last move that led us Refuge of Hope. We love the people of this church and community. 

In addition to the local church ministries listed above we have been and remain to be blessed with opportunities to serve in sever statewide roles related to youth ministry and church planting.
